Scott Hegarty is a Canadian show-jumping rider whose career reflects a rare blend of technical ability, refined horsemanship, and comprehensive industry experience. Competing throughout Canada and the United States, Scott is recognized for his quiet feel, disciplined riding style, and thoughtful approach to producing quality sport horses.
Scott’s foundation in the sport is rooted in hands-on experience. He began his career working in the barn, progressing from daily horse care to grooming at the 5* level of FEI competition. This early immersion instilled in him a strong work ethic, a deep respect for horse management, and an intimate understanding of what elite performance requires behind the scenes.
His professional development took shape at North Run under the guidance of Missy Clark and John Brennan, one of North America’s most respected programs for producing top riders. There, Scott advanced into roles as head flat rider, assistant barn manager, and FEI groom—positions that sharpened his eye for detail, broadened his understanding of horse development, and refined his skills in preparing horses for the show ring with precision and consistency.
Scott has further expanded his expertise through work with accomplished professionals including Matt Williams, Kyle King, Sam Walker and Carly Campbell-Cooper, supporting them as a flat rider, young horse developer and show groom. These opportunities exposed him to a variety of training philosophies and riding systems, shaping him into a versatile and adaptable horseman.
At Attaché Stables, Scott brings a polished, rider-focused perspective anchored in classical principles and modern sport-horse development. His background across elite programs allows him to ride with clarity and intention, develop horses with patience and feel, and contribute meaningfully to the stable’s high-performance environment. Scott’s combination of professionalism, experience, and commitment to the sport makes him a valued member of the Attaché team.
